STUDENTS FROM EL FKIH BEN SALEH BRIEFED ON CCDH’S MISSIONS AND PROJECTS
A group of students from Youssef Ibn Tachfin Secondary School, located in the city of El Fkih Ben Saleh, visited the Advisory Council on Human Rights (CCDH) on 25 December 2010.
Coordinated by Zaidania Association of Culture and Social Development, this visit aimed to introduce the participating students to CCDH’s missions and work and the projects it has realized in the field of human rights protection and promotion. The ultimate objective was to entrench human rights culture in the future generation.
The group met with Mr. Bouchaib Doulkifel, entrusted with a mission by CCDH President, and Ms Nezha Bernoussi, Head of the Training Department at the Center of Human Rights Documentation, Information and Training.
Mr. Doulkifel briefed these students on the highlights on the Council since its inception, its contributions in the settlement of the past grave human rights violations and its efforts to promote and protect human rights.
He explained the nature and work of national human rights institutions, to the category of which CCDH belongs, and the Paris Principles governing such institutions.
Mr. Doulkifel shed light, as well, on the evolution of human rights at the international level, their practice and the philosophy behind them. He stressed the importance of respecting human rights in the protection of dignity, establishment of peace and justice and the encouragement of development in the world.
On his part, Mr. Mustapha Raouf, who represented the abovementioned association, presented the activities of the association and the educational clubs, like Human Rights Club, Environment Club, Health Club and Journalism Club. He underlined the role the association can play in the entrenchment of human rights culture and the examination of daily violations.
Despite the fact that they travelled a long distance, the students were so excited to be briefed on the Council and find out more about current events in Morocco, as related to human rights.
