SPECIALIZED MEDICAL CARAVAN IN TINGHIR TO ENHANCE HEALTH SITUATION IN COMMUNITY REPARATION AREAS
President of the Advisory Council on Human Rights (CCDH), Mr. Ahmed Herzenni, leading a CCDH delegation, visited on October 1st, 2010 a specialized medical caravan organized in Tinghir from September 30th to October 2nd, 2010, by the Council and the Moroccan Medical Association of Solidarity (AMMS), to enhance health situation in areas targeted by the community reparation program. The delegation visited projects implemented within the framework of the program.
On this occasion, a meeting was held between the Governor of Tinghir, CCDH President and AMMS President, at the Prefecture of Tinghir, in which participated several interested stakeholders, elected officials and some of the inhabitants of this province, targeted by the community reparation program.
In his word, Governor of Tinghir, Mr. Mohamed Nakhcha, thanked the Council and the Association for their interest in the province. Organized within the framework of a program adopted by the Council and the Association to enhance health situation in areas targeted by the community reparation program, this medical caravan “proves the effectiveness of choices made by the Council in the region”, said Mr. Nakhcha.
On his turn, Mr. Ahmed Herzenni stressed the importance of the community reparation program and of reconciliation between isolated and remote areas and the other parts of Morocco and between the inhabitants of these areas and their administrations. Mr. Herzenni indicated that the Council works on the future of human rights in Morocco, through the promotion of economic, social, environmental and cultural rights. The Council isvery concerned by the issue of health for it is linked to the main right: right to life; Mr. Herzenni confirmed.
This medical campaign included eye surgery; diseases of the nervous system, digestive system and liver; genecology; bio-medicine; pediatrics and cardiovascular, skin and respiratory diseases. This caravan resulted in 62 surgeries and more than 1200 medical consultations.
On parallel, CCDH President and Tinghir Governor visited some projects accomplished within the framework of the community reparation program.
The delegation visited, therefore, Mqorne Association for Development’s project which aims to construct and equip Mqorne Center of citizenship and democracy, Afanour Association for Development’s project, relative to the exploitation of agriculture plots using drip irrigation technique, Dades M’gouna Association for Development’s project which aims to strengthen capacities of local stakeholders, the project of Ait Boubker Association for Development, Culture and Volunteering, relative to the creation and equipment of a space for women in the Municipality of Kelaat M’Gouna and the project of Al Ouahda Association for Development and Cooperation in Taskoukamt which aims to dig and exploit an irrigation well.
These projects are implemented within the framework of the community reparation program. They are financed by the Advisory Council on Human Rights, CDG Foundation and the European Union.
CCDH and AMMS program includes the organization of other medical caravans in Guelmima and Amlakou in the province of Errachidia, Imilchil and Sountate in the province of Midelt and the District of Hay Mohammadi-Aîn Sebaâ in Casablanca, from October 8 to 10, 2010, and in Tazmamart and Krama in the province of Midelt, from October 15 to 17, 2010.
